Unadilla MX, New Berlin, NY – Round 8 of the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship Presented by FMF took place in the rolling hills of upstate New York on the weekend of July 19th and 20th.
Three New Jersey riders gave it their all in an attempt at the 40 man field in each championship class.
Todd Stavac (Pt Pleasant) was the lone NJ rider in the lites class and despite turning good lap times was unable to make the cut for Sunday action.
Barry Carsten (Bayville) qualified for yet another national. The long-time Suzuki privateer just missed out qualifying in the timed qualifying portion. Carsten would have to go to the LCQ and after a 9th place start Carsten swept down the inside and began picking off rider’s half his age ending up third place and taking his trip to Sundays points-paying motos. On Sunday Carsten would finish 30-22 for 31 st overall. One spot ahead of fellow NJ rider …..
Adam Blessing. (Toms River) Blessing was one of the fastest 35 guys in Saturday’s timed qualifying. In Sunday’s race action Blessing would put his Honda right behind Carsten in each moto finishing 31-23 for 32nd overall.
